AP-1
Autopista del Norte
Welcome to the AP-1, the Northern Highway as it passes through Alava. We manage its 14.2 km, from Etxabarri-Ibiña (Vitoria-Gasteiz) to the border with Gipuzkoa, applying the most advanced techniques to guarantee your comfort and safety on every trip.
Tolls and Tariffs
The use of the AP-1 involves the payment of a toll for the maintenance and financing of this high-capacity road. At the Etxabarri-Ibiña and Luko accesses, you can use the VIA-T electronic toll system to pay conveniently, without stopping, and access the subsidy program bonuses.

Tour
It connects Burgos with Irún. In Alava, the highway has a 14.2-kilometer section that includes two tunnels: the Luko tunnel (620 meters) and the Isuskitza tunnel (3.4 kilometers, the longest in the Basque Country).

Special transports
If you need to drive with a special transport on the AP-1 (due to its dimensions, weight, etc.), you must request a specific authorization. We take care of managing these permits to ensure the safety of all vehicles.

Work in progress
Works are currently underway at the Armiñón junction to improve the connection between the AP-1 and the A-1. These works include the widening of the Burgos-Madrid connection from one to two lanes, with the aim of reducing traffic jams at peak times.
These improvements are expected to enter service in early 2025.
